 THE HELP BY KATHRYN STOCKETT

I love this book. I mean LOVE this book. One of my favorites. Much better than the movie.
You will hear your characters talk , laugh when they laugh, cry when they cry, and get mad when they are angry. I think the story is for almost all ages. Plus it tells a tale of how segregation I believe was in the 1960s.

The story is based in the 60's in southern Mississippi where segregation was wanted and part of life. There is a black maid along with others that tells you many stories of what it was like to be a black maid. Secrets they knew but no one would tell , stories of how they raised the white children and how they made friends with the unexpected.
Also a white woman wants to stand up to everyone when she sees how many blacks are being treated but does she stand up for injustice? How does she do it? Will she fight to get the stories of the maids to be published? Would she take the risk in southern Mississippi?
You will feel every emotion when you read this book. You will hear your characters talk, you will cry when they cry, laugh when they laugh, get angry when they are wronged?
YOU must read this book. Even if you have seen the movie and loved it .... the book is ten times better.
